The Honda MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa, crashed during a test session at the Losail circuit in Qatar last night injuring his knee and wrist.
The Spaniard high-sided the Repsol Honda RC212V going into turn 10, badly damaging the bike, which hit him as he was sent somersaulting down the track. The red flag was immediately waved and the session stopped while the ambulance attended to Pedrosa before taking him to the circuit medical centre.
It is believed his X-Rays showed no broken bones but he is expected to undergo further checks in Barcelona, as he was suffering a lot of pain. He did however, require stitches to his knee after opening up a wound from an operation he underwent over the winter break. He also suffered contusions to his left wrist which he had broken the previous year in Germany.
Pedrosa said,
“The conditions weren’t ideal with the sand blowing across the track, but this was an unexpected crash. I was entering Turn 10 and I had a high-side and then the bike come down on top of me.
It’s a shame because we also lost testing time yesterday, but now I will go home for some more scans and hopefully they won’t show anything more serious.”
Pedrosa missed out on the previous days testing due to horrendous weather conditions much improved yesterday although still very cold and windy. It is thought he will be fit for the next test session in Jerez at the end of March.
