According to reports, James Toseland has lost his ride with the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team and is being replaced by the Yamaha World Superbike rider Ben Spies.
MCN are claiming that they have been given the nod that Toseland’s departure was finalised earlier this week after a meeting with his Tech3 boss.
It is rumoured that it will be a straight swap with Toseland taking Spies seat on board the WSB Yamaha, although it looks unlikely as Cal Crutchlow and Chris Vermeulen are both in talks with the team for a ride next season.
On September 4th, the Yamaha team made their announcement that Spies had signed a new two-year contract to ride for them with Spies saying;
“I am very happy to say that I will continue in the WSBK series for 2010… I want to thank [Yamaha] for giving me their trust for a next career step into MotoGP in 2011.”
With no official announcement as yet, will Spies leave his World Superbike seat a year early and be joining Colin Edwards on the grid for the 2010 MotoGP season?
