Casey Stoner on the Ducati Marlboro, took pole position in qualifying today ahead of tomorrow’s German MotoGP, with a lap time of 1:21.067.
Dani Pedrosa, the Repsol Honda rider, took second on his final lap snatching it from third place man Colin Edwards on the Yamaha.
Two rookies in fourth and fifth place, Andrea Dovizioso on the JiR Honda and Jorge Lorenzo on the Fiat Yamaha followed by Randy de Puniet to complete the second row of the grid for the LCR Honda team.
It was a terrible qualifying session for Valentino Rossi on the second Fiat Yamaha as he struggled with his front tyre, leaving him to start the third row of the grid in seventh place.
Britain’s James Toseland, on his first ever visit to the Sachsenring circuit, quallified in eleventh place on the Yamaha.

Marco Simoncelli took pole position today ahead of tomorrow’s 250cc MotoGP on the Gilera after topping the time sheets yesterday.
Julian Simon took the second place on the grid only two-hundreths of a second ahead of Hector Barbera. Simon crashed his machine with only two minutes of the session remaining.
Mika Kallio, the Championship leader, was in fourth place to complete the front row of the grid. Just after the time had ended, Ratthapark Wilairot tried to overtake Kallio and crashed into him.

Gabor Talmacsi, the reigning champion, took pole postion today ahead of Britain’s Bradley Smith on a damp Sachsenring circuit this morning.
Stefan Bradl took third position followed by Simone Corsi in fourth place to complete the front row of the grid ahead of tomorrow’s German MotoGP.
Joan Olive started the second row of the grid ahead of Mike Di Meglio in sixth, Tomoyoshi Koyama in seventh and Raffaele de Rosa in eighth.
