Toseland Wants That Win

Joy Ryder - Wednesday 23.04.08, 16:25pm

jamesThe reigning World Superbike Champion, James Toseland, is currently lying in fifth position in his first season in Moto GP.

The Yamaha rider has so far managed two sixth places and a seventh place in the last race at Estoril, but now he has been given the new Yamaha Tech-3 engine, he is aiming for that podium place.

In an interview with Eurosport said “Yamaha in my contract said I would start on a 2008 bike. I didn’t, which was annoying, because the pneumatic valve engine which everyone else was using was so much better. But before the season started Yamaha told me that the worse case scenario would be that I would get the new engine by Estoril and I have got it now. The new engine adds at least another 10kph down the straight and if you can make time up on sat on the bike in a straight line then that is the easiest part. But a podium is possible now because the bike is capable of that. So it’s up to me to show that now. But I believe that with the work I put in and the way I am changing my riding style then there is every possibility of me finishing in the top three.”

Last weekend James Toseland and his band ‘Crash’ kicked off events in style at the MCN Live at Butlins with a session that lasted over an hour and a half.
